I noticed that I never seem to spend enough time updating this thing. I am constantly working on school work and turning my back tot he design community. I am only doing this temporary until I finish this degree and perhaps get an MBA and maybe, just maybe a PHD in technology. I am currently enrolled in 3 classes: management 301, CIS 200 (C# programming level 2), CIS 211 (Operating Systems, and not the basic over view side). It has been a tough and interesting year. Every time I open a book, I feel like I am forcing myself to read it, however one I begin... I become immersed in it. I would rather know, than not know something. My whole goal in this degree, CIS (Computer Information Systems), is to merge my right and left brain. My other degree was in multimedia and I rose through the ranks at various advertising agencies to Art Director and Creative Director. I Was very proud of the title but, always felt a little incomplete. Like there was something missing. I wanted to make a truly interactive website (not as defined in books be "return information is a given time limit"), but as something that will grow on its own. I think DeviantArt hit that mark. They make changes however, it is run by the community with people such as my self with a love of art and ideas they must share.
Since CIS is a business major, it has changed my perspective on the world. I used to think that if i just created something, someone would like it. I have always gotten complements on thing I drew, although I wanted a larger audience and not just the client base. The world is driven by money and greed with a love for art (very general, I know). I am learning how to be the person that is in charge of the finances, management, and how technology can be manipulated into enhancing a company's output, time latency, and divisional making.
The questions I keep asking myself, are:
How can I combine talent with science? What place does art have in a company and how can i make it profitable? Should I design cell phone OSes (GUI and all) and sell them directly to the customer or to the manufacture? What would make the world a better place with this mix of backgrounds?
If you have any thoughts, please let me know.
